In war it seems horses are either loved or pointless. If you are at war and you see an enemy's horse you will probably leave it when if it was your horse you would love it dearly and it would seem like the only good thing about the war. This probably happens in real life because there is no point in taking a horse hostage and if it is yours it is the only sanity that you have in your new world.

Why was captain Nicholles so nice to Joey.

What do you think Albert said to his dad when he got home.

Will Joey thrive in a war environment.

When Albert is old enough will he still join the war even though he might not find his horse and will his father let him.

Will Joey forget about Albert and the farm.

The war hasn't had much effect on the farm but the atmosphere still feels different. Albert and his mom are fighting about the dads drinking and how he treats Joey. Than one night Alberts dad took Joey to town to sell to the army. They accepted but Albert had heard Joey's cries. He asked if he could sign up for the army just to be with his horse but they said he was too young but they could use that spirit when he's older and Albert just asks if they will take care of Joey, than they take him away

Picture
This is the picture I drew for book club. It's of Joey sulking in his new home after being taken away from his mother.
